A European National Transport Authority needed to replace a legacy motorway control system that was no longer effectively supportable.
The final requirements for the new solution were not fully detailed, so the new motorway lane signalling system was to be developed using an approach that could easily change and adapt to the clients evolving requirements and budget constraints.
Nicander developed the new motorway lane signalling system using the agile SCRUM methodology. The new software was developed through two-week sprints using a continuous integration process and comprehensive automated testing.
This whole process required significant trust and true collaborative working. The new software sets all signs in accordance with comprehensive rules to ensure they are set in a safe and non-conflicting manner. The new software provides pattern calculation tools to ensure client staff can configure the solution correctly.
